Episode 25: Sabretooth #1&2

When you think of Wolverine’s villains there’s one name that undoubtedly floats to the top: Sabretooth. And in the 1993 Marvel decided to give the villain his own mini-series. Host Nathaniel Wayne takes a look at the first two issues of this attempt to give a vicious killer who’s literally characterized as having little personality beyond savagery his own title.

Episode 24: Spawn #6&7

Given how many issues of Spawn are on the docket, I’m a bit overdue to get back into the mopey gothic bugger. So this calls for a doubling up to cover the two issue story involving that most 90s of things: an oversized, overmuscled killer cyborg.

Does anybody feel like Spawn is on the ground going “I can’t… he’s too EXTREME!”

Guns that just sort of leak fire when you hold the barrel seem impractical to me but then again I might not be EXTREME enough to get it.

Episode 23: The Amazing Spider-Man 374 & 375

These two issues see the return of one of Spidey’s most iconic villains and sets the stage for some much of the Venom-ness that would permeate the rest of the 90s. For these two issues, I knew I couldn’t do it alone. So I brought in the only man for the job, a man who had a letter printed in a Spider-Man comic about how amazing Venom was: Siskoid. So let’s see how the symbiotic villain fares this time around, now that he’s not being saddled alongside Carnage.

Episode 22: Aliens – Newt’s Tale

Back in Episode 8 I took a look at Dark Horse and their attempts to milk the Predator franchise, now it’s time to take a look at that arch rival of those aliens… the… Aliens… In a story that claims to chronicle the adventures of the young girl from the James Cameron directed sci-fi action classic that was a follow up to the Ridley Scott directed sci-fi horror classic. Those are some pretty hefty boots to fill… let’s see how this does.

Episode 21: Cable #1

It’s with no small amount of trepidation that I head back into the world of Rob Liefeld’s creation Cable, last encountered when I covered X-Force #1 with Ryan Daly. This time I’m going solo and Liefeld’s not involved. So will this manage to be any better? Um… you do know what decade of comics this show is about right?

Things don’t get much more surreal than this. And if I’m being honest, I’m far too in love with this title to ever be close to impartial about it. So that’s why I brought in Kyle Benning, who’s never read it before! Listen and find out how that went!

Episode 19: The Amazing Spider-Man #365

It’s time for something of a flashback as host Nathaniel Wayne reviews a mega-sized 30th anniversary issue of Spider-Man… more than a little similar to the one he did back in episode 1 of this very podcast.

A quick side note, I know that some of you have been missing the selections of internal page scans lately, but things have gotten a little crazy for me to the point that I’m having difficulty keeping the schedule at all. I hope to catch up on the old posts where these were missed and get back into having them be part of the new episode updates, but that’s probably going to be a numerous weeks process. So your patience is appreciated.
